Vintage 100
The Vintage 100 is a 100 watt version of the Vintage 50. Big, bold and powerful, this amp will fill the largest rooms with tone. Built with a nice, deep, full tone, no icepicky harshness here. Our goal with the V100 was to try to recreate the old late 60's tones, while retaining the 70's grind, without the harshness associated with the 70's amps. According to the customers, we have accomplished that goal. I also have incorporated a vintage/modern switch into the amp. In the vintage mode, its thicker, and rounder, and in the modern mode, it gets clearer, with more attack. Gives you a nice variation in flavors. Think of this as a Plexi to Aluminum panel switch.
This amp is a 4 input, non master volume setup, which is LOUD. It is the perfect platform for those who play the biggest stage, or those who like to get a good, loud punchy cleanish tone, and use pedals to shape your tone.
. The Vintage 100 has a killer, sweet full clean tone, and starts to get gritty around 4 on the volume. From 4 on up, it gets thicker and smoother crunch tones. As with all of our amps, it responds very well to the guitars volume control, and to your pick attack. When wound up, gets a nice gritty clean, or clean with a little hair on it, by rolling the volume back on the guitar. Go from there, to singing leads with just a turn of the guitars volume.
Power section is 4el34's, but you can also use 4 kt66's for the sweet tone that they give up as well. and the preamp uses 3 12ax7's. Solid state rectification keeps this amp tight, even when wound up.
Built with the same attention to detail, and high quality of all of our amps. Custom wound Heyboer OT, hand assembled and wired with Mil Spec PEC pots, ARS filter caps, "Dijon" and mallory and sozo coupling caps, NOS carbon comp resistors in all critical locations. Chassis are welded for extra support and durability, and switches are all heavy duty units for long troublefree service. I am constantly testing preamp tubes for the best possible combination of tubes.
I have also been testing the use of KT66's in this amp, and its amazing. All amps are now set up with the ability to adjust for KT66's, to give you that early Page,Clapton, etc type tone.
All amps come standard with:
Heyboer power and output transformers and choke reverse engineered from original '68 drakes
Winged C or Mullard RI matched el34 power tubes.
A mix of Mullard, JJ, EI, or Tungsol preamp tubes.
Sozo Custom Vintage series caps
ARS and Sprague high quality filter caps
Handwired with silver core teflon jacketed wire.
External bias jacks, with top mounted 10 turn bias pot for easy, precise biasing.
V100 - '68 spec A "NEW" twist.
Ive recently been working on a '68 spec V100 that is simply awesome. As many people know, the early Plexi specs varied wildly, and until now, you were stuck with the builders interpretation. Not any longer. Small changes to the circuit happend thought the amps evolution, shared cathode/split cathode, different treatment of V2,etc. All of it is now available in 1 amp via a few tone shaping switches located on the rear panel, so YOU can pick the arrangement you prefer. Like the looseness of early plexis? shared cathode and a big bypass on V2. Like it tighter and brighter? split cathode and small v2 cap. Or anywhere in between.
the V100 '68 spec. the perfect tuning platform, and its amazing with pedals.
